Prinella Haygood came to the U.S. from her native South Africa in 2003 to start a new life with her husband, John.  It didn't take long for her to make a home and a mark in her new community in Charleston, SC.  She joined Kiawah Island Golf Resort in 2004 as an administrative assistant and in less than a year was promoted to Benefits Manager.  Her colleagues were drawn to her bright personality, easy going nature and the helpfulness she extended to those facing difficult financial and medical decisions.

Prinella was diagnosed with breast cancer in September 2009, and fought this battle with courage and great hope.  She succumbed to the advanced disease in just over a year, January 2011.  Prinella leaves a legacy of strength, humor, smiles and warmth to the Kiawah community and to her two young sons, Tristan and Grayson.
